Drought-tolerant crops may resolve decreasing food supply in Kenya

Kenya reconsiders GMO crops to address increasing demands in food production.

As Kenya declared ban on genetically modified crops last 2012, the government opens the discussion for this issue as drought continuously affects food supply in the country.

The government plans to reconsider this technique as counties in Kenya face severe food and water scarcity. Furthermore, experts suggest that tools in biotechnology will help address the concern and provide food security for the whole state.

Drought-tolerant varieties of crops may also keep the livelihood of smallholder farmers, address decreasing food supply, and expand the economy.
