Uganda develops hybrid irrigation system to help farmers cope with drought and irregular rainfall.

A student from the Uganda Technology and Management University (UTAMU) develops a hybrid irrigation system that could help farmers cope with changing weather patterns.

The intelligent control system of Intelligator integrates sensors, micro-controller, and automated devices that will alert farmers on appropriate irrigation time. Furthermore, this hybrid irrigation system will assist farmers from a series of drought and irregular rainfall seasons.

Also, this irrigation system is a combination of solar pumps, drip irrigation structure, and control system. Through this, small-scale farmers will be able to enhance the productivity of their crops.

Moreover, this technology also aims to provide rural communities with sustainable agricultural practices in irrigation.
