Introducing the Precision Indoor Plants (PIP) Consortium, the Foundation for Food and Agriculture Research aims to develop crops specifically for indoor agriculture.
Furthermore, the consortium will study the environmental and genetic factors of crops to survive indoors and will focus on vertical production facilities. Through controlled environment agriculture, PIP will increase the nutrient content, yields, and reduce the energy spent in growing crops.
Moreover, indoor agriculture will make crops more resilient to stresses, reduce environmental strains, improve food security, and enhance supply chains.
