What are innovations in livestock production?

Dairy industry: Innovations until 2020 are mainly aimed at increasing (financial) returns and market orientation, with a great deal of attention for the closing of cycles, natural behavior of the animals, biodiversity and landscape. Pig farming: Innovation oppurtunities can be found in animal health and animal welfare improvement, use of sensors and camera’s for monitoring of health condition and animal behaviour. Poultry farming: Innovation oppurtunities can be found in hatching technologies, autonomus desinfection of housing and lager systems and dust filtering technology.

What is livestock farming?

Livestock farmers provide us with meat, dairy, eggs, wool, leahter and other animal products. Livestock farmers in the world face a number of important challenges. Livestock production needs to be more sustainable and productive while at the same time being profitable for farmers. This applies in particular to animal husbandry. Modern and innovative animal equipment and technologies are key components of the solution to these challenges.
