AB Inbev, a brewing company, closed a partnership with the gene-editing company, Benson Hill Biosystems, to develop new varieties of barley for sustainable use.
Furthermore, they plan to combine traditional method and modern technology to develop varieties of barley that use fewer natural resources. Also, this seed innovation will pave the way for greater production of barley, environmental sustainability, and improved nutrition contents.
When successful, this new variety of barley could withstand the effects of extreme weather conditions and lack of water resources.
